Updates for New Catholic High School in Hilltown, Bucks County |

Lansdale
Catholic High School has completed its survey to obtain community input on the
name for the new facility it plans to build in Hilltown Township.
We thank everyone for their input. |
Five
names—St. Katharine Drexel High School, Holy Family High School, Lansdale
Catholic Regional High School, Divine Mercy High School and St. Elizabeth
Ann Seton High School—are under consideration. The slate of potential
names for the new school was compiled by the Lansdale Catholic Planning
Phase Committee and approved by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

The
Archdiocese of Philadelphia plans to build a
new, state-of-the-art Catholic high school on a 63-acre parcel at the
intersection of Limekiln Pike and Rickert Road in Hilltown Township.

Construction
of the facility is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2010, with the school
opening to students in September 2012. |
Completion of
the new facility will prompt the relocation of Lansdale Catholic High School
to Hilltown. |

Presentations
on the new Hilltown School
to Home & School Associations and CCD/PREP Begins.
Mr.
Richard Trotter '73 and Mrs. Joanne Conrad McHugh '84, have completed
visits to St. Agnes-Sacred Heart and
Mary, Mother of the Redeemer parishes
on the Hilltown School. We are currently in the process of scheduling
additional meetings with all our feeder parishes for visits in the fall.

In
May, the Archdiocese held a ground blessing ceremony for the other new high
school in Royersford, Montgomery County. They will open their doors in
September 2010. |
Bishop
Joseph McFadden and former LC President, Father Joseph Rymdeika, lead the
audience in prayer. |
Many
parents, teachers and students from the various feeder schools attended the
ceremony. The name of the school will be Pope John Paul II High
School. |

On
January 28, 2008, Cardinal Justin Rigali announced plans for the
Archdiocese of Philadelphia to construct a new, state-of-the-art secondary
school in Hilltown Township, Bucks County. |
That
means any student currently entering eighth grade in September 2008, would be part of the FIRST
graduating class from the new school. |
Our
student ambassadors were part of the Archdiocesan press conference along
with Auxiliary
Bishop Joseph McFadden, LC President,
Father Joseph Maloney, and faculty
member, Mrs. Barbara Albanese. |
LC
President, Father Joseph Maloney was joined at
the announcement with Mrs. Joanne Conrad McHugh '84,
LC Advisory Board Chairperson and former LC President and current President
of St. Pius X High School, Father Joseph Rymdeika.
